Deepa Kala: The Art of Light was built around a single holding in the Salar Jung collection, its lamps and chandeliers, and the observation that light, across civilisations, has never been merely functional. It has carried devotion, celebration, knowledge and the record of human progress.

The evening treated illumination as memory and meaning rather than artefact, and asked whether a museum could be felt rather than only observed.

Light as Subject, Not Setting

The programme was built around performance, storytelling and sensory experience, drawing directly from the museum's lamp and chandelier collection. Objects usually held behind glass became the organising logic of an evening, the play of light through the galleries reframed as living expression of craft, ritual and time.

Carrying the Evening Beyond the Walls

An influencer-led approach was integrated from the outset, not appended to it. Cultural creators from Hyderabad's heritage, food and lifestyle communities documented the light, the gallery moods and the lived experience of the space, translating the atmosphere of the evening into contemporary digital language.

Creators were selected for alignment with heritage and visual storytelling rather than reach alone. Their content styles naturally captured architecture, light and atmosphere, which is what allowed the museum experience to travel as something authentic rather than sponsored.

The Reach

10+ creators on the ground. 104K+ views. 2.2K+ likes. 50+ stories. The content extended the life of the event well past the evening itself, driving visibility and renewed cultural relevance for the institution across digital platforms.
